First Impression: Jang Geum’s Dream

This anime got subbed really slow, as you can consider this was aired in the Spring Season. And I don’t know why, because I really had an enjoyable time watching it. It’s about a girl in the Japanese early 16 century. The girl is called Jang Geum, her dream is to cook. She wants to make people happy with her cooking and this episode ending invited her to do a test for the royal kitchen thingey. I like that fact that she has learned this from her passed away mother, it gives some drama on the show, even if it is corny. That’s one half of the anime, the other half is included with ninja’s, and I so like the music and the settings for that. Especially the fight with the boar was really good. I’m curious about the coming episodes, I’m going to watch this.

  1. Just for the record, she’s Korean. ;)

It’s indeed strange that an anime like this is neglected this much.

  2. It’s Korean, BTW, dubbed into Japanese, and set in Korea… It was made in Korea too… making it technically not anime, but 만화 영화 or (manhwa-yeonghwa)
