Fruits Basket 16 - Jason the horror bear.^^

Before I get started, an announcement: I’ll be gone in this weekend, to enjoy some holiday. I’m going to Helsinki, and I will be back by Monday. Just a small note for the ones who read this, but I assume that aren’t too many. ^^

This time, Shigure came up with a great idea. Let’s all go on a trip! Of course, Yuki and Kyou don’t want to go and they wonder why on earth Shigure gets to that idea so sudden. But alas, Tohru isn’t that difficult. Only by saying that he really wanted to go on a trip with her, and she is going already. That means that Kyou and Yuki are coming as well. I mean, Shigure and Tohru on one trip, only the two of them? I fear for the life of Tohru that moment. So, they all went. Including Hatori because Shigure doesn’t have a driver licence.

‘I dont see why I should be mistrusted’
You big liar.^^
The place they went was a little cottage with a lake. It looks really beautiful, and Tohru is just fond of it, and Yuki and Kyou take her to the lake. Of course, before that, Shigure has to tell them something that isn’t true. He claims that Jason is a new version of a bear. Kyou and Tohru buy it. Hatori and Yuki don’t.^^ Especially Tohru, she buys those things far to easily. If you claimed that chickens are from out of space, she would have asked which planet they are from.^^ Everyone except Tohru is wondering too why on earth Shigure suggested so suddenly that they should go on a trip. Shigure lies and everybody knows about it. Shigure can be such a bad liar.^^ But anyway, the ‘youngsters’ went away.

And then, Hatori asked if Shigure is doing this to torment his supervisor again. And yes, he did suggested this trip to torment his supervisor. Luckily for her, Hatori forced Shigure to call her. At that time, she almost commited suicide and didn’t stop with crying. When Shigure hang up the phone, he was crying as well.^^ Because it wasn’t fun. Hatori is not laughing either. But I was. ^^

Meanwhile, Tohru is having some trouble. The atmosphere with those two is so thick that it’s making her nervous and insecure. I mean, those two aren’t even bickering and telling eachother how much they hate each other!
She is thinking of all the things that might have created this and she thinks it’s her fault. That they are angry at her, and so, suddenly, she starts apologizing. For nothing. Yuki and Kyou are shocked by it, untill the moment they discovered ‘Jasons footprints’. Well, Tohru panicked, Kyou as well, and Tohru tripped and fell down a hill. We know then what happens. Yes. The guys want to catch her, and they both transform. Another reason for Tohru to cry again while she is apologizing and she goes to pick up everyones cloths.
When she is gone, they start to bicker once more.^^ The things they said to each other made me conclude two things: Kyou is an idiot and they are both funny.

And this, it even cracks Tohru up. She is so relieved that everything goes back to normal once again that she started to laugh, even while she knows that laughing about people bickering isn’t that funny. Yuki and Kyou tell her what was up with them and declare their hate towards each other once again. It was really cute to see, and also so funny. Because it’s late already, they plan to go to the lake the next day.

And the next day…

AYA COMES! Of course! He was invited by Shigure and the moment he came in, he acted just as he always acted. Idiotic in front of Shigure, lovable in front of Yuki, saying that he wants to strength their brotherly bond. It was so funny once again, and Hatori was just hilarious in this situation. Not so hilarious as Aya, I know, that guy can’t be any worse than this. Kyou is depressed once again, and the youngsters take their leave, fast after this happened. ^^ We have some nice scenes with Shigure, Hatori and Ayame. And the real reason of the trip: Kana was getting married, and Shigure wanted to take Hatori out of that situation for a while, that he didn’t know what happened. Hatori is still hurt by it, and the conversation is really good too, and Ayame was really nice, saying that he wants Hatori to be a thousand time as happy as Kana is, because Kana DID forget about him. Hatori smiled and said that Ayame should use this aggressive attitude also with Yuki. Don’t do that.^^

Kyou and Yuki are having a fight once again about Ayame, and of course, it got a bit out of control. Tohru didn’t really understand and it was good and all once again and they walked around the lake. Really nice scene, also it was a bit hilarious.^^

Behold the logical thinking of Ayame. We know what happens afterwords.^^

This was a really nice episode, quite hilarious and quite idiotic. I loved it, and Hatori was nice once again, so was everybody. And of course, who wouldn’t adore the ‘Jason’thingey. It still cracks me up.^^

Fruits Basket 15 - Momiji

‘It’s the anniversary of Mother’s passing, so we’re going to go pay respects on her grave.’ she says with a smile.
Fruits Basket has a special meaning for me. Especially this episode, it can give me so much hope, and that only in such a short time. I don’t really know how that can be, but that’s one of the reasons why I’m a total Fruits Basket freak. This episode started with Torhu, asking if it was okay for her to go out on the first of May. Shigure said it was okay but he asked too where she was going. Appereantly, her mother died then a year ago and she was planning with Uotani and Hanajima to go to the grave of her mother. The Soumas are shocked by that fact, and Yuki suggested that he would come too. Kyou remained silent. Uotani and Hanajima were glad that Yuki was also coming, and smiled and they said that Kyoko would have loved Kyou, and just would have teased him and hugged him until he went mad. That would have been a bad idea, for several reasons.^^

Anyway, on the first of May, Kyou also yelled to Yuki that he would come too. Why he yelled this to Yuki and not to Tohru is a mystery for me. But well, it gave a nice fight and bickering once again. Yuki, Kyou and Tohru went to the gravesite, and waited for Uotani and Hanajima. They have some nice outfits. I must say too, Tohru looks good in black, she really does.^^ When they reached the grave, it was all clean and nice. The grandfather of the father of Tohru must have done that. Yuki asks what happened to the father of Tohru. Tohru answered that her father died of the complications of a cold, and that she doesn’t really remember much of it, she was just a small girl back then. In the manga, we have also another explination. Remember Yuki in episode ten when he caught a cold? Tohru was so worried about him, that must have been the reason. Kyou is meanwhile avoiding Hanajima, we see that in one shot in the anime, the manga has more of it. He asks of her powers and so on, and he is really down at that moment. Why, I don’t know yet, the manga has yet to be read. Oooh, nice line. I’m just with Volume 8.

That moment, Yuki realised how weird it was for someone that lost both of her parents and was still able to smile like this. He remembered one year ago that Tohru was called out of the class and that he wondered vaguely by himself what might had happened. It’s so weird for that girl to smile like that still, and it’s even weirder for him and her to smile together in one house. But well, they go all picknicking in front of the grave of Kyoko. The best way to pay your respect, though it’s a little uncommon.^^

They leave and we have an interesting scene with Hanajima and Uotani. They say that Tohru has hang in there, and they wonder too why on earth Torhu can be so happy. Hanajima just can’t understand it, because if she loses someone that is important to her, say Tohru, it would be so hard on her that she rather wished that they have never met. But Tohru, she must have scolded herself a thousand of times for getting discouraged, and also Kyou and Yuki have an influence to her behaviour. Uotani smiles and says that one day, one of the two will fall in love with her and say that they really like her. Hanajima get’s a bit evil because she won’t allow Torhu to get married, because it made her so sad. And she said, that Yuki and Kyou have something with them. Their heart is filled with hatred, that lingers on in them. As long that hate remains, there is no room for love. She wants to tell them about it, but those two seem dim when it comes to such things. Torhu is just the same.

This is one part of the episode, the other half focussed on Momiji and Tohru. And that part was just incredible, I just can’t say different then I loved it. And I will love it because it can give me hope and can stop me of discouraging. But anyway, Tohru is working, and Momiji comes by and helps her. Tohru is suprised and asks what he is doing her. The building belongs to the father of Momiji. We know Tohru is slow, but it’s always kind of funny.^^ Momiji tells about his parents, and shows some pictures. His father is Japanese, his mother is abroad. I know from the manga that she is German. She does look like a German woman, that’s true. And then, Momiji tells that his mother doesn’t know him.

One second later, the mother arrives. It’s a bit too coincidence, but this is nicely done, otherwise I can get annoyed or I can’t stop laughing *coughWolf’sRaincough* The mother talks to Momiji like he is a kid in the neigbourhood. She is a bit worried and said that his mother might worry where he might be. And that’s the moment that Tohru understands the words of Momiji. His mother doesn’t know him. She leaves, and Momiji is bit annoyed because she saw him. And explained.

His mother had her memory erased. She couldn’t handle it, she couldn’t go through with it all. It can be frustrating if you love someone, and you have a child of him, and everytime you want to show your love to your child and hug it, it transforms in an animal. That must have been terribly frustrating. The mothers that have childs who are possesed can either be overprotected, or they reject them with their whole body. It was just too sad to see, even the father of Momoji couldn’t handle it anymore, and it was just so sad. His mother had a breakdown, and as soon the memories of Momiji were erased, she got better. But now is the question, has he really helped his mother? And we get the incredibly livelesson. Even if Momiji has sad memories, even if all he does is running away, even if the memories are so painful that he just wants to forget about them, he keeps on living with the memories. If he doesn’t run away from them, he can keep believing that one day, that he will overcome those memories. That he can make peace with those memories. That he even can transcend them. And that’s why he didn’t want his mother to forget him. But that would have been selfish of him.

Tohru agrees with him and just hugs him. It was so nice to see that I couldn’t resist to take a picture of this too. I loved this episode.

Fruits Basket 14 - The Bagpipe guy!

A New character is in the anime! Meet the snake of the Zodiac, Aya! As we can see, Yuki isn’t fond of him. But that is only because he is insulted by what Aya did the moment ago, which I will remain in silence. Let’s say that it was so revolving that I don’t want to talk about it.

Meet Aya in his human form. Somehow, you have to laugh about it. The creators thought it was a good idea to give Aya his own melody: bagpipe.^^ If you hear that guy talk with that bagpipebackground, you can’t be serious about anything at the moment. Aya is the brother of Yuki. That suprised me too, because I can’t really imagine for Yuki having a brother. He seems like a lonely guy, without a sibling or so. Well, the fact that Aya is his sibling doesn’t change the fact, because the two of them.. They don’t get a long that much. And I can understand, because let’s face it. Aya is a total weirdo.^^ Because Aya is the snake of the Zodiac, he transforms when it’s cold. Snakes are reptiles, coldblooded creatures, it’s logical for him to be so. That’s also the reason of the ‘revolving’ situation, at the beginning of this episode.

I don’t know how I should see this moment. We know now that Hatori, Shigure and Aya are childhoodfriends, but luckily I’ve already seen this anime and I know that Shigure and Aya are only kidding in what they say. We know that Shigure likes to make a fool of people and say weird things, this was SO weird. And wrong. Lets say: It was so revolving that I don’t want to talk about it. A line that will be used several times this review.^^

Because of the weird introduction that Aya made with Tohru, he invites her for lunch! Tohru isn’t good in this kind of situations, and she feels like she is swept away. But even so, they talk about the ‘brotherly bond’ that Aya and Yuki have. Aya is ten years older then Yuki is, and even so, he is raised freely, doing what he wanted to do and so. He wasn’t aware of the fact that he had a brother. This has formed a gap between the two and they can’t come close to eachother because of it. Aya came by to meet Tohru, he came also by to see how Yuki was doing. It’s been several days since Yuki was confronted with his worst fear, and Aya was worried about his little brother. But Yuki seems doing fine. It dissapointed Aya because this was his chance to be a brotherly figure to Yuki and so on. Aya is trying so hard to get to know his little brother, that Yuki is annoyed by it and doesn’t reveal anything about himself, what makes Aya even try harder and so and so. Tohru says she wants to help.

At home, Yuki is asked if he dislikes his brother, and Yuki answers that he just doesn’t know what Aya is thinking. Well. We’ll be honest. The ones that cán understand how Aya thinks, please be so kind to raise your hand and tell it personaly. Aya says he wants to stay over the night(s).

Here he is at breakfast, after another revolving situation that Kyou has experienced. We know what Kyou does when he gets angry, so.^^.. After three days, he still doesn’t want to leave.

They go to school and Tohru talks a bit with Haru and Momiji about the situation back home. Haru seems to understand the situation when a very down Yuki walks by. Haru is taking action. Aya owns a shop too, and we will be hearing more about that shop. Let’s say already that this shop.. it suits the character of Aya.^^

At home, the revolving goes on and on, when Shigure and Aya talk about their own High School lifes. Aya was president of the Student Council, and we hear all kind of ‘weird’ stories. The expression of Yuki was just priceless after hearing how Aya convinced the chairman of his long hair. Let’s face it again, he just likes to lie.^^. Yuki is almost broken down, and so is Kyou. And that moment, Hatori comes in.

Aya goes home. How come so quickly? Aya only listens to Hatori, because Hatori has some things that Aya wants to have but he hasn’t got them. And they are off. Yuki says that that man can’t be helped, but he doesn’t really dislike him. Everything is fine, once more, and we will hear more about Aya.^^

I really liked this episode. I’m a snake myself according to the Zodiac, so it was interesting to see what the snake character is like in the anime. Let’s say that I’m not like him, at all. Thank goodness.^^ Aya is a wonderful character, but he is the weirdest sidecharacter I’ve ever seen. I’ve laughed so much and so loud when I saw it.^^

Fruits Basket 13 - Akito and Yuki

Yuki, Kyou and Tohru are now second year students. Today, the ceremony starts, and this is the day that Momiji and Haru will join the High School life with the rest of the bunch. Because in Japan this is so important, Tohru ‘forced’ Kyou to come with her to greet the newbies. But, she has forgotten in which class they are.^^ While Kyou asks in which class they are, Tohru spaces off.^^ Too funny. Once again. Kyou warns her that when she is alone, that she has to be on her guard the whole time, but she doesn’t really understand. But when she is with Kyou, she can space off all she want. See the picture.^^ I find it amazing for someone to space off that much. I wish I could do that.

They found the class! And Momiji managed to wear the most ‘interesting’ schooluniform ever. He wears a girl uniform. But you have to say, he looks really good in it.^^ Yuki comes by as well, asking why on earth he is dressed up this way, but he is not the only one that comes.

Campus defense force, or: the student council. In Japan, the student councils are powerfull youth movements in the school and they can really make a difference. This time, the president is just angry at Haru because of his hair. Saying that it’s his original color doesn’t help, and the president goes on bickering at Momiji. Momiji’s soul is still a kid, so he can’t take all this critism. The president really sets his life at stake the moment Haru is pissed off.^^

We all know what happens then. Haru scared the hell out of the whole Student Council. That guy is good in his arguments, but: it’s a little scary and impulsive. And black.^^ I remain in silence because the most utterly wrong situation was used to prove the natural haircolor of Haru. I can guess what happens, but I have a strange feeling that it is a good thing that it wasn’t showed on screen. In fact, I don’t want to know anything else about it. The question of Tohru afterwords, gives Kyou and Yuki the permission to beat the hell out of that guy. The bell rings, Tohru is off. And then, plottwist for the coming time in this episode: Namely:

Akito is at school. And Tohru runs into him. That can’t be a too good situation.

Tohru is suprised by him and caught off guard. She doesn’t know how to behave in a situation like this, because she has never been in such situation before. She greets him, and Akito greets as well. The air was too thick in this scene, because we would have expect any moment an attack on her. Remember, this guy is the one that hurted the eye of Hatori. In the moment that Akito wants the two of them become friends, and we all know that he was lying, Yuki bursted in.

But, he is scared to death. Akito comes to him, and we get the most terrifrying scene ever. Akito talks to him and said that it was hurting to him that Yuki didn’t show up at New Year’s party. He has been tolerant lately, and yet, Yuki disobeys him. Yuki is more scared and scared by the moment. I wondered about this, because we’ve never seen Yuki scared before. With this scene, it all becomes clear. Yuki is abused, beaten, mentally tormented by Akito and is traumatised by it. That’s why he can’t stand the house of the Soumas, because he is reminded by all his memories of Akito. It’s too scary, even the moment Akito threatens to ‘re-educate’ him. We can all guess what that could be. Yuki is too scared by him, but yet, he shows up, to protect Tohru for what he fears that will happen: That Tohru will lose her memory and that he will be alone by himself once more. I also wondered about Akito. He is the badguy of this anime, that is clear, but even so, he incredibly soft. But he is manipulating, indoctrinating, and just too evil by doing that his soft way. He is the perfect badguy. He is cunning. I wouldn’t be suprised if he manages to do something to Yuki far more evil. The comment that he made that it ‘would be nice if Yuki had a nice High School time’ convinced me that we haven’t heard all of Akito. Later when Hatori and Shigure talk about the incident, we can see that it’s Akito’s mission to make Yuki unhappy. He can’t be happy when Akito is around, because Yuki is too scared by him, even now.

The tension is broken by Tohru, and she pushed Akito away. Akito leaves, and Tohru takes Yuki with her to play with the whole High School Bunch badminton. Yuki is happy once more, because there are warm people that he can trust and that can make him feel alright again. And that is something that Akito fails to see.

Fruits Basket 12 - Momiji, the genius songwriter^^

As promised, they go this episode to the Onsen, the Hot Spring. Momiji rented a van that brought them there, and the van is luxerious. Tohru just can’t believe her eyes, and she feels like a princess. Well that is fun and good, but a little howdoIputthis.., girlylike. That’s something that I don’t like that much, but I can’t complain, because this episode really made up for it!
They arrive at the Onsen, and they meet the most scariest womanhost ever! Because, she has a weak health, so she stays at the Onsen, but: She makes a lot of mistakes, has long eyes, and feels it as her duty to apologize all the time (GOMENE SAAAI!!^^) Too funny. She is also a member of the Souma’s, and her son is possesed by the Monkeyspirit.

The woman, Okami, shows the bunch their room, and that is the point for Momiji and Okami to scare Tohru and the point for Yuki and Kyou to make Momiji clear that it is indecent for Momiji to sleep in the same room as Tohru. But the attempts, how they bring it, they just don’t work.^^ This was a great time for me to watch, because it was as hilarious as ever. Momiji being such a whiner, and a small kid, that doesn’t understand what’s going on. I loved it. Okami was as scary as ever once again when she was apologizing again for something. The music that was used for it was just wonderfull.

They take all a bath. Tohru in the woman section, the rest in the male section. It’s separated by a wall, but to not feel lonely, Momiji thinks that they all should sing a song!

of course, Tohru agrees with it. And the song, made up by Momiji is just the most ‘beautiful’ song ever. Well… let’s say it’s original.^^

One has to say, Momiji is incredibly cute. And weird. And they sing, and they sing. Untill Tohru falls onconscience in the bath.

When she wakes up, she is saved by Okami. She apologizes for making trouble and being a burden, but she shouldn’t have said that.

There she goes again, feeling that it’s her fault because she should have said that it’s easy to get dizzy in the water. Okami asks who the woman in the picture of Tohru is, and Tohru tells about her passed away mother. Later when she takes another bath, she talks with Okami about the son of Okami and we get to know Okami a little bit better. We call the son of Okami Monkey-san untill he is seen in the anime.^^

At dinnertime, it’s more scary then ever.^^ The Cook has arrived, and we can all see, they are cousins.^^ The reason should not be important, anyone can guess here. Use your imagination.

Meanwhile, Yuki and Kyou are pingponging, and it’s the most ridiculious scene ever, because Kyou is just hitting and Yuki is obeying the rules of the pingpong. This pisses more and more Kyou off, and that’s pissing Yuki off, and at last, Tohru offers to face Kyou in the pingpong. But she missed bluntly, and that was the reason for Yuki to walk away. Tohru is worried about him so she goes after him.

She finds him LAUGHING. Yuki has never laughed before, and he went away from Kyou just to laugh, because Tohru missed it so bluntly. It was a nice scene, really nice! Yuki gave Tohru a White Day gift, and Yuki was just wonderful. Have I already declared my love for Yuki too? Well. This would be a good time.^^

The last discovery made: Momiji is 15 years old and will be going with Haru to the same school as the rest of the bunch. The reaction of Tohru was just too priceless to be true!^^

Fruits Basket 11 - The most foolish Valentines Day ever!

It’s Valentines Day! And of course, this is the scariest time of the year for the Juunishi. We can all gues why that could be. The chance that they can be hugged is great at this time of the year. And Kyou is too foolish to realise what Valentines Day for him can mean. Well, we could all gues the reason.

That, of course. Of course, Kagura comes as well, to give her precious Kyou forcely the love of the chocolate. Of course, Kyou isn’t happy with that. Also because that chocolate of Kagura is as cheesy as always, because it is huge and has the form of a heart.^^ Kyou confesses. He hates chocolate. And that can’t be good, because Tohru has bought for everyone some chocolate.

Of course, Shigure could die because of it, Yuki is pleased as well, Kagura was extremely cute, somehow. Tohru blames herself because she didn’t ask if Kyou likes chocolate. But who on earth hates chocolate?! Chocolate is the most delicious thing on earth, of course anyone would like that.^^. My personal opinion. When Shigure starts to ‘torment’, Kyou has run out of patience and his temper can no longer be controlled. He eats it all. The chocolate of Kagura, and the chocolate of Tohru.

I love Kyou.^^ The reason should be clear.

A month later, the exams are over, and everybody goes praise each other because of the good work. They were all extremely cute, but the cutest was still Yuki:

I know now that I don’t want to study in the same room as Shigure, because he would totally drive me crazy. But this, one has to admit that it’s too cute to be true. Also some things of the scenes were of course the Yuki-Fanclub, that was jealous because Yuki smiled so cute, the next second they were scared to death because of Hana. ^^
"My parents were called. Yes, mother was crying".
Remember me to never ask Hana of her school results! The voice and all, it is too hilarious to watch. I love Hana as well. If you think of it, this was really a episode that made all clear that you have to adore some characters. I love Fruits Basket. There. That’s said.^^

"Go, Parttime Job!"
The praising and being scared ends the moment that Tohru gets called by her teacher. She doesn’t say the reason, but, she says that she will work hard for her parttime job. That can only be something to do with money. Muahaha. She works hard, is exhausted when she gets home, and there, MOMIJII!! ^^ I love him too. Oh man, what a confessions. If I continue to do this, I might get sentimentalO.o

I couldn’t resist including this picture as well, because lets face it, they are so CUTE at the moment! Momiji tells the reason why he is here: Tomorrow it’s White Day. In the Western Culture, or at least in Holland^^, we don’t have something like White Day. Well, on Valentine Day girls give something to boys, on White Day, boys give something to girls. We’ve put it all in one day: Valentines Day.
Momiji wants to take Tohru and also Yuki and Kyou to a hotspring. The reaction of Tohru was as priceless again. Tohru is raised by her poor mother, there was never that much money. And don’t forget, she lived in a tent for a quite a period. To her, something like this, is so luxorious that she just can’t believe it. Kyou was insulted as well because he was never asked anything if he wanted to go in the end. But the next day, he has changed his mind, and was too cute again. But I already declared my love for Kyou this entry, so I will remain in silence.^^
At that moment when something of money is included, Shigure says that Tohru’s grandfather has called because Tohru hasn’t paid something for school yet. Tohru claimed that she had some …., but with this money from her parttime job, she should be able to pay. Then, the memorable moment that they all realise that Tohru can’t pay it yet, because of the Valentine Chocolate money.
"BA….Bath. Your.. Turn."
We all know what the words really were, but after sending Tohru to the bathroom, they are able to talk a bit about her. Kyou thinks she is a BAKAAAA^^, but then, Momiji tells us a story.

The Most Foolish Traveler. Once upon a time, there was a traveler that was easily fooled. He went to a town, and the population used him because he was so naive. They told him that they were ill and that they desperatly needed money, and the traveler gave it all away.
He ended in the woods, being bare naked, and some monsters came that wanted to eat him. So they fooled him with lies, once more. The traveler gives away his arms and legs, one by one. In the end, he only has left his head, and he gave his eyes away to the monster. The monster said that he gave him something in return. A piece of paper, with the word ‘baka’ on it. The traveler, who had no eyes to see it, started to cry, because he had never got anything in his life. He was so happy, and the moment later, he died.
Was this real foolish? I think the traveler just wanted to make people happy, and that he would become happy because others were happy because of him. The rest doesn’t matter. Tohru is just the same. This ended the next day, when they were about to go to the hot spring.

I loved this episode, the most memorable moment was when Hatori cane in the scene. He really knows Shigure.^^

Fruits Basket 10 -Why I’m afraid of cows

After the most hilarious openingsscene ever of Souma Haru, the cow, we go to Kyou, Yuki and Tohru.  And those two still bicker and don’t get along very well. Tohru had wished for them to be more like each other, but .. no, it wasn’t working. The almost fight between them was TOO funny, btw. I’ve laughed like hell when I saw it for the first time, and I was so happy that it can still be so funny. I’ve seen Fruits Basket I think 5 times already, and it is and stays my favourite anime.

But, Yuki has a cold. Appearently, a cold is very serious. Anyway, certainly in the world of Tohru. Because I’m reading the manga as well, I know why she is so overprotecting about it. It’s Tohru’s father, Katsuya. He died because of the complications of a cold when Tohru was little. She knows that colds can be fatal, and who wants to lose her father for that reason? And: don’t forget that Yuki has a weak bronchi. And add the fact that Yuki transforms when he is weak or when he is hugged, so he has to be careful. Tohru suggested that he stayed at home the next day, but well. They have a long distance run.

A LONG DISTANCE RUN!?! (check out the melody as well, that makes it perfectly.^^)
And no, Yuki can’t run away from it anymore. They are rivals and for once and for all, they are going to see who is faster. It’s a ridiculious thing, but well.^^
The next day Tohru is still worried, Uo doesn’t show up, Hana can only run three meters and then she goes challenging everyone to play a cardgame^^, and of course: Yuki and Kyou running like madness. TOO funny. ^^

Tohru is running as well, but she sees a person with white hair, so she thinks that it’s an eldery person that needs help. It’s Hatsuharu (Haru). He asks for direction to the Souma House. Because let’s face it, that guy can even get lost in his own house. He is a dazzled, dreamily guy, and he is really relaxt. With his hair you can already see he is a cow, and that is the relaxed side of the cow. That cow is nice. I like that cow too. But before we are about to discuss what kind of cows there are on this planet, let me continue to review this further.
He is coming’ Haru makes the situation even more hilarious, because he ties a rope down the road, and pulls it the moment Kyou runs by. For the effect, use your imagination.^^
Haru has spent three days finding Kyou, because he wants a fight with him. He was going to challenge him with the New Year, but someone skipped it. Muahahaa. Yuki calls it dangerous and wants to Kyou fight Haru. Because.. otherwhise…

The Black Haru comes by. Haru is a rather dazzled guy, but when he explodes, no one can stop it. Let’s face it, he is even WORSE as Kagura.^^

The reaction of Tohru is just wonderfull. And that’s the reason that I’m afraid of cows. Just watch this and you know. Haru is just scary, he is annoying, he attacks you, he insults you, he makes a fool out of you. He comes too close. I would be scared to death when I would find myself in a room with the Black Haru. This is also some related with my fear of cows. If they suddenly attack me or something. I know it sounds crazy, but see it, and you know!

But, the fun stopped the minute that Yuki got an attack and fainted. Because they didn’t know what to do, Haru transformed in a cow so they could go to Shigure without any problem. Well, except that it can draw attention.^^

At home, they’ve put Yuki in bed and Shigure has some trouble holding his laugh.^^

Haru talks a bit about himself and what happened to him. He hated Yuki, but now he loves him. I don’t know how I should see that. But because Yuki is the mouse, Haru took him as an enemy. He felt being mocked, and that caused the Black Haru. He couldn’t stop his anger, so he realised everything in studying the material arts. But that didn’t help too. Untill the day he actually met Yuki. He felt so angry, that he blurted everything out. That the cow was stupid, because of the mouse and so on. Yuki reacted so nice, if he really was stupid. Haru isn’t stupid, he is just a little dazzled.
Yuki wakes up, Tohru tries calling him with his real name, and he transformed in shame.^^ It was too cute, once again.

Fruits Basket 9 - How to torment your supervisor

Shigure shined in the first half of this episode. ‘Tormenting your supervisor’.. like Hatori said. Anyone who is a novelist and has a supervisor, please check out this episode. But let us not forget the scary Hana. She was so kind to clean both of the toilets. The results can only be guessed. A thick air is now in that place.

Meanwhile, with Shigure and ‘Mi-chan’, the rest is cleaning the house because it’s the last day of the year. Yuki and Kyou are busy carrying the heavy things, and of course, it falls. Whose fault? Shigure, because he is too busy with his tormenting than he would help.

The supervisor came by for a manusscript, that was really important. Instead of working, Shigure goofs off. He loves it to be as slow as ever, and then run off, and making a fool of her. And he continues to do so, and giving the supervisor almost a nervousbreakdown. Shigure, it isn’t very nice what you are doing, but it’s too funny. Mi-chan is only a too easy victim.^^

Yuki and Tohru are meanwhile shopping for dinner, Tohru gets to hear that they all will go back to the house of the Souma’s. They spend the New Year over there. Tohru buys only the stuff for one person, and doesn’t make a problem of it.

Yuki and Kyou decide that they won’t go to the main house. Yuki says that he isn’t family anymore, Kyou says that he can not possibly go back after dissapearing for 4 months (and because he would be overwhelmed by Kagura^^ Imagine how angry she must have been at the party^^). And because they would have left Tohru alone a few days. Tohru smiles and said that she doesn’t mind being alone and that it was alright. They go.

On the way to the house, the two are worried about Tohru. It was too funny because they sounded like a few pregnant ladies. And what does Shigure? His supervisor is gone, so…

He decides to torment Yuki and Kyou instead^^ It was TOO funny again. The tormenting doesn’t take long, because..

Hana came by! That was too weird. Hana acted dramatic and said that Tohru would be alone this year. Every year, she spent New Year with her mother. What is she going to feel this year? What will go on? Kyou and Yuki realise that Tohru isn’t alright in the house, and they run off. Again. Have nice waves next year..

They find Tohru crying, and after realising that she isn’t alone anymore, they go watch the sunrise. They just wanted to be with her, and it’s too nice. The end of the episode, with a scary thought that Akito isn’t happy that Yuki ‘and the other’ didn’t come.

I loved this episode. And I loved Shigure.^^

Fruits Basket 8 - To erase with your own hands what you love

Damn, this episode was heavy. We know the cliffhanger of the last episode. Tohru went to the Souma house and got her little talk with Hatori. He says that normally her memory would be erased, but instead of ordering so, Akito even permitted her to live with the cursed ones. She should leave. The Souma family is dark, it’s mysterious and cursed. Tohru is shocked by what he said, and Momiji shows her the garden.

They talk a bit about Hatori. His left eye is almost blind. He had a lover, Kana. She even found out about the curse, but she smiled and said she didn’t care. They were even planning to get married. But they needed permission of Akito. Akito got mad, so mad, that he hurted Hatori’s eye. But even so, Hatori didn’t blame Akito. Kana blamed herself. She got ill, even so ill, that Hatori erased her memory. To erase what you love the most is the most difficult thing ever, but even so, Hatori couldn’t watch her torn into pieces. Kana left, Hatori cried. Somehow it made me think of a song: Beauty of the Beast from Nightwish. After listening that song, you can understand Hatori’s torn soul even more. Yes, his soul is torned, but he doesn’t express himself, so he stays cold, so he has nothing left to be sad about. So his dream of Kana won’t melt away.

Tohru started to cry as well, for the sake of Hatori. Because the one that needs kindness the most, is Hatori self. He was just worried about her, and she thinks it’s all too sad. Momiji leaves to get her something to drink.

Hatori comes in the screen. He has heard all what she said, and he apologizes because he was out of line. Everyone in the Souma family is precious to Tohru, and she would never give it up. Kana must have thougt the same way. Tohru trips, and Hatori caught her, and transformed in this:

Cute, isn’t he? He was supposed to transform in a dragon, but in the English culture it’s a seahorse. In the Japanese culture, it’s a baby dragon. Only some creatures are allowed to become real dragons. Tohru freaks out as well, because she doesn’t know if Hatori needs salt water or fresh water.

In the time that Hatori passed out, we get a flashback about his memories with Kana. She was his spring. He fell in love, she fell in love with him. And she found out. And even so, she wanted to be with him. He felt like he was forgiven for something, and the dream continued. He was just happy.

The end of the dream. Akito was informed that they would marry. Akito got so mad, that he smashed a vase in Hatori’s eye.

Akito kept yelling at Kana that it was her fault if Hatori’s eye got blind. She was useless, she couldn’t get rid of the curse, she is useless, it’s her fault. If someone yells this at you, you even can believe it. And that’s the point when Kana’s soul got torn into pieces. Akito forced Hatori to erase her memory. But even so, it was done in a soft, manipulating way. It’s too scary to see.

Shigure comes by to pick Tohru up, and Tohru keeps wondering if it’s right for her to know about it. She saw Akito, and she was just scared as well. It was nice to see. This episode was so much drama, after seeing it so many time, it can still make me cry.

Fruits Basket 7 - Humans are just like onigiris^^

The school festival. The class of Tohru has permission to open a onigiri shop. Somehow the life of Tohru is filled with riceballs.^^. She’s going to make them, Yuki came with a good idea, Kyou came with a bad idea. Kyou envies Yuki because he is in everything better then Kyou is. Yuki envies Kyou because Kyou is the kind of people that can socialize. They want to be each other.
We also know that cats like Kyou. Dogs like Shigure. Mices like Yuki. We can only imagine what’s it like to be with Kagura in a forest and with some boars.^^.

At home, Tohru makes up the most wonderfull theory with humans as onigiris. Once again, we find out that she loves onigiris. She says that everybody’s quality can be compared with an umeboshi. But that umeboshi is on the back of an onigiri, so the onigiri self can’t see it. But he can see other umeboshi’s, of other persons. And that’s why umeboshi’s envie each other, because they don’t know that they have an umeboshi themselves.^^ Kyou got the idea and was too cute to be true, it was too sweet.

The next day. Yuki dies in embarrassment. How come? He has to wear this well… interesting looking dress. Let’s put it bluntly: He looks like a girl. He single handed attracked all the custumors, but he can’t look at Tohru because he can’t handle the shame. Kyou laughs a bit about it. The fun really starts when this kid bumps in:

Souma Momiji. The cousin of Kyou and Yuki. Why he is here we don’t know, but this kid isn’t alone.

Souma Hatori. Cousin as well. He is a docter, and because Yuki skipped his monthly check up, Hatori has to come to check on him. Yuki has a weak bronchi, and he used to have attacks. As we can see, Yuki isn’t fond of Hatori. This is because the time when Yuki’s secret was exposed, Hatori erased all the memories. Yuki is scared to death that Tohru might have the same fate. Hatori claims that he won’t do that untill Akito gives him the sign. Hatori is also here to act as a guardian, but he lacks off. What happens?

That. Of course. Yuki had the most brilliant solution ever, when the rest flighted to the roof. Momiji was punished, and they all left. Yuki came by later and we have the nicest scene ever between Tohru and Yuki. He was comforted by her and that was too nice to see. He warns Tohru for Hatori, but one second later she is invited by him at home to have a little chat. About what? Wait and see.^^

Fruits Basket 6 - Keeping the secret

Tohru wants to tell her two closest friends that she is a maid in the house of the Souma family. The reactions were except not all she had hoped for, because Hana-chan and Uo-chan invited theirselves to the house the next day to come stay over.^^ They are very protective about their best friend, so they both want to check the ‘enviroment’ of Tohru’s new habitat. That is a nice situation to the rest of the bunch, because they HAVE to keep the secret. If the two find out, Tohru and Hana and Uo will lose their memory. And believe me, it’s quite difficult to remain silence about it. Hana and Uo have the habitat to compare Yuki and Kyou with Tom and Jerry. That is quite correct, but they can’t tell. Also when some dog came in the house, it gave some nice effect. The reactions of Shigure, Kyou and Yuki are just priceless.

I told you!^^ They talk a bit, Tohru finds out that Shigure is a novelist (with funny results), and Shigure is desperate to find out how Uo and Hana met Tohru in the past. Well, we know now that Uo is a criminal and was in a gang. When the Souma’s found out, their reaction was as priceless as ever. It was too funny to watch at. But wait, the story of Hana is even worse, and more funnier to watch.

"I was a transfer student in Junior High. I caused a ‘tiny’ problem at my previous school."
I have to say, use your own imagination about what that ‘tiny’ problem could be. I hope it’s not alike the problem Rena of Higurashi had at her previous school.^^ Hana made herself really scary that time and I hope that she isn’t by my bed at night when I’m about to sleepO.O

But anyhow, the youngsters go play Dai Min Hin (Shigure passed because he had ’some work to do’. We all know that he was too scared and runned away^^). The competition between Kyou and Uo grows, and we all know how it ended. Let’s say the situation got worse when Uo tripped, and the situation got even more worse when they both were in the garden and were about to transform. Shigure and Tohru came both with the same idea.^^

Welcome and meet Pochie-san! ^^ Kyou and Yuki are transformed once more and they all go find some cloths. Well. Kyou finds the cloths, and once again, too funny to imagine:

Like I said. They were almost caught by the guest, but everything stays good.

In the evening we have a nice scene between Tohru and her friends. She realises just how lucky she is. She has a room, she has her friends, and she is just so happy with everything. Tohru declares her love for her friends and they fall in sleep. Nice scene.

The next morning, we have a few discoveries, just like Yuki and his morning habits.
"WEREN’T YOU ASLEEP?!"
"Your stupid speech woke me up."
Yuki is appearently stronger in the morning, because he holds back normally on Kyou.^^ The friends leave, leaving a very happy Tohru and a relieved bunch. I loved this episode, the reactions of all the people were just brilliance. But when you think about it, this story doesn’t make any sence. Do not think about it. Fruits Basket is brilliance. I’ve said it. Watch!

Fruits Basket 5

This was a serious episode of Fruits Basket. Tohru received a phonecall from her grandfather. The renovation is over. She has to go back to her grandfathers home, with her aunt, and cousins. She tells the Soumas, and they are all just too sad. The first expression of Shigure was just priceless, before he could recover himself. The expression of Kyou was brilliant too, but the saddest was Yuki. He was listening, but it was clearly that he couldn’t believe what was happening.

Tohru starts packing her belonings, and she was reminded of a game she played when she was small. ‘Fruits Basket’ the game was called. See the title. When she was young, she played it, and everybody got to be a fruit. An apple came by, melon, orange, banana, grape and so on.

"Honda is an onigiri!" Onigiri means riceball, and we all know, an onigiri, is not a fruit. But back then, Tohru didn’t notice, and she waited on her chair, to someone that would call: ONIGIRI!
She thinks that she is an idiot, for not notice. And she is in the same situation.
"An onigiri doesn’t belong in a Fruits Basket."

Meanwhile, Shigure tries to persude everyone to stop her from going. Without succes. They all think that it’s better for an outsider like herself to not be involved with the Soumas. The Souma family isn’t a happy place, it’s dark, it’s cursed. Tohru leaves, but Shigure doesn’t give up.

All he did was calling to Tohru what was for breakfast. And he goes on, and reminds them all of Tohru. It’s too hilarious to watch, because we all know what Shigure is up to, and in the end, of course, the hell is beaten out of him. His own fault^^.

Meanwhile in her new house, Tohru suffers. She is called -chan, except her grandfather, calling her -san. It’s a common in Japan that it’s polite to call someone -san. So her grandfather is polite. With -chan, you make someone smaller than the person really is. So, that’s what the rest is doing. She is called an idiot, and she can’t make something out of it, because she is reminded of the house of the Souma’s, where she is appreciated. In school, she lies to Yuki that everything is fine, but Yuki lies as well, because they all know that they are too sad to be true.

When Tohru is home, there is an unpleasant suprise. Her aunt checked her last place where she lived and she knows that she has lived with guys. Her son wants to be in the police, so it’s bad for him when there is a relative with a record. They all think that she has done something, and they don’t trust her. That makes no sence, because she didn’t do anything! But the family didn’t accept Tohru’s mother, Kyoka, so they don’t accept her.

Her grandfather does, and he tells her to go where she wants to be. She is a daughter of her mother, so she doesn’t have to bear those dorks. And with a perfect timing, Yuki and Kyou show up to collect Tohru. Kyou drags her out of the house, and for Tohru, stunned as she is, it’s great to watch.

"Don’t call Honda-san that casually, SIR" Yuki remains to solve a few things, like this. The expression of the family is just too priceless. Yuki collects the stuff of Tohru, and leaves as well, leaving the dorks behind.

They all go home happily, because there is a place for Tohru where she is wanted and appreciated. Even the onigiri like herself. Of course, I’ve a picture of that too^^

Fruits Basket 4

I’ve laughed so much and so loud because of this episode. We’ve get a new character: Kagura! And let’s face it, it’s a personality not easy to forget. The girl, that can turn into a boar, is deeply in love with Kyou, and has some … ‘nice ways to show her affection’.

With some nice reactions of Tohru. Let’s face it, we’ll all look that way if you see it.

The ‘punishing for not calling Kagura’ continues, and it ends in that Kagura beats the hell out of Kyou. The drama continues with after letting Kagura doing Kyou’s laundry, and letting Kagura making a cup of tea for Kyou. Tohru and Yuki went to the store, and the ravage they found when they got home was priceless. Use your own imagination to find out what precisly happened.

Kagura feels really guilty and decides that she should clean up the whole kitchen and she should fix the sliding door as well on her own. Kyou, meanwhile, doesn’t want to come off the roof^^. Tohru wants to help them both, so she offers in the night to help Kagura with fixing the sliding door and the two of them become friends. I think it would be so fun to have someone as Kagura as my friend, she is such a sweet, weird girl. I would like to be Kagura’s friend, just as much I want to be friends with Tohru. They are both wonderful.

After helping Kagura, Tohru moves on to Kyou, and the two of them talk about the material arts.

It was great to watch, because Tohru made a fuss of it again, but this time, Kyou reacted very nice to it. He has trained on the mountains with his master, another one of the family. He can completly understand Kyou, and he is someone that Kyou really needs sometimes. He didn’t fight any bears and wasn’t exposed under waterfalls, so it was fun to see the truth out one time. But even with those 4 devoted months, he isn’t good enough to beat Yuki. How come that guy is so good?!

This episode made us clear that Kyou will marry Kagura some day. Threatened, or not, but he will not marry somebody else. Someday he will appreciate Kagura, and they will fall in love. Even Kyou. That will happen, Kagura sees it already coming.

The funny things in this episode are obvious. The other side of Kagura, the reaction of Tohru, the melody, the nice quotes and comments, and of course, the reactions of Yuki and Shigure. After watching this episode a couple of times, I see a giant hint for the coming climax. But I’m not going to teeeell! Ghehe!^^

The ending of this episode was brilliant once more, because the way Kagura transformed, and Kyou was beaten by a boar. That’s something nice again.

Fruits Basket 3

This episode focussed really on the characters of Yuki and Kyou. I must make a confession before I further review: I’ve seen Fruits Basket before, so I already know what will come. Muahahaha.

We begin with a almost fight of Yuki and Kyou, after Kyou jumped out of the window. I can not say that I so loved that moment.

The music fitted so perfectly, and I could really feel the tense that was used here. Kyou wants to win of Yuki, because he feels he can be accepted in the Jyunishi. It’s due to the mouse that Kyou is an outsider in the family. He is ignored, can’t join in activitities, and so on. To win against Yuki, he has more peace with himself.
Yuki hates Kyou because Kyou WANTS to get in the family, and wants to be accepted. Yuki runs away from the family, because he was in a cage. He wasn’t free, everything was due to Akito. And Akito isn’t a nice one. If Yuki sees Kyou doing like this, he gets angry, that makes Kyou angry.
Tohru thinks that they should not fight, so Kyou gets angry at Tohru.

Of course, Kyou regrets what he has said, and skipped class and got to home. He talked to Shigure, and he is going to continue his training. Kyou may have a black belt in material arts, he has a white belt in social arts. And that must change. Kyou picks up Tohru from her work, and after a ‘litte misunderstanding’ Kyou apologizes and they go home. It was nice to watch.

The next day, it’s this time Yuki who feels really down. He picks up Tohru after work and they talk, and after that, they both feel better. Tohru can understand the two of them better now, and the two both feel that they have someone that likes them both. Tohru wants to be friends with them, and that is something they are both missing.

Fruits Basket 2

This was so bizar that I liked it. I love it, I mean. The girl Tohru, who lived in a tent, is invited to go live with someone of her class: Souma Yuki. Yuki lives with his cousin Shigure (who is an interesting type..) and his other cousin Kyou (he can’t control his temper). The family of the Souma’s has been cursed by the Zodiac. When they are hugged by the opposite gender, or when they get weak, they transform in animals. Yuki transforms in a mouse, Kyou in a cat, Shigure in a dog. That was a pretty shock for Tohru when she found out. Ghehe. She has to keep it a secret, or they might erase her memory. To keep a secret like that, that can’t be an easy job.

I liked the small things that made Fruits Basket so enjoyable to watch. For example the fanclub of Yuki (he didn’t ask for that, don’t worry), the small hearts in the subtitle, the voice of Shigure sometimes, the way they all walk, the way they act. Those things are so sublte, but they are wonderful. I can’t deny that I watched this with a smile on my face. It’s hilarious, especially the time they pictured Yuki as a ballerina. I’ve laughed so much that moment.

‘Whenever they see each other, they start fighting, don’t worry too much..’
Well, this can’t be too nice, and it was great to look when Kyou and Yuki started to fight, and Shigure just ignored it. It can’t be ignored that those two totally hate each other and that they are enemies. They are the opposite of each other, but still, Yuki is much and much stronger, even when Kyou has spent 4 months training on the mountains fighting bears and being exposed under waterfalls. Yuki and Shigure think that Kyou is an idiot. Maybe he is, but the only idiot around is probably Shigure. But that doesn’t mind, I like idiots! The crazyness will continue, and I will continue to laugh!

I really liked when Tohru tripped over and fell on Yuki and there was a mouse at her feet. It was so funny to look at! Fruits Basket is not only funny, it can be serious too, and that is as good as the rest of the anime. I like it!
